VLC Is on the Samsung Z1, with a caveat
A couple weeks ago we saw VLC released on the Tizen Store for the Samsung Z3. VLC is a media player application that is portable, free, open-source, cross-platform, media player and streaming media server. Initially we thought this app was available for both the Samsung Z1 and the Z3 Smartphones, but that was not the case. It turns out that it needs Tizen 2.4, but the initial Tizen 2.4 beta release was also not compatible.
Today, the second release of the Tizen 2.4 Beta and also VLC delivered directly to the store. VLC media player supports a huge range of audio and video file formats, codecs and streaming protocols, so this is a great addition to the Tizen app ecosystem. We have support for hardware acceleration and subtitles which includes complex text scripts. Grab it now from the Tizen Store and its only a 9.64MB download.
