Launched just before CES 2014 was the Samsung Smartcamera NX30, which is powered by Tizen and is a professionally-inspired compact system camera. Lots of bells and whistles to this one:
- Swivel Viewfinder
- Swivel 3.0″ High Resolution Super AMOLED Tilting EVF touch Display
- Advanced 20.3MP APS-C high resolution CMOS Sensor
- NX AF System II – Advanced Hybrid AF with phase detection
- 1/8000sec Fast Shutter Speed – High Speed sync with powerful external flash
- Samsung New Premium S Lens for Best Performance 16- 50mm F2.0 – 2.8 S ED OIS
- 9fps continuous shooting
- High Sensitivity ISO100 – 25,600
- DRIMe IV Image Engine
- NFC / WiFi Tag & Go
- Remote Viewfinder Pro
As well as the Smartcamera features such as NFC/WiFi, Tag&Go, Photo Beam, Autoshare, Remote Viewfinder, Samsung have also introduced the New Premium S Lens. Although Samsung Smartcamera’s have had fantastic image processing abilities, they have always been let down by what many have seen as sub par Lenses. Even the Samsung NX300 ships with a F3.5 – 5.6 Lens which many professional photographers looking for a solid bokeh effect would readily dismiss.
The Remote Viewfinder Pro software does look interesting, but it seems it is not available in the Play Store or Samsung’s own Samsung App Store. In fact, Samsung’s own Mobile Link and Smart Camera applications are not available in their own store, or at least not available in the UK. Come on Sammy, get a move on if you want to promote your store over all others. Now its time to drool over the Video:
