Video Demo on implementing IoTivity in real devices at FOSDEM 2017

At the recent Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting FOSDEM that took place in Brussels, Belgium, two of Samsung’s Senior Engineers- Phil Coval and Ziran Sun who have been active with Open Source Software development such as Tizen, IoTivity, etc demonstrated the implementation of IoT in regular devices and getting the data from these devices on a cloud server to automate tasks.
The demonstration involved a brilliant use of vehicles such as a car belonging to any random citizen to fix a streetlight at any location in case it is turned off or not functional at night. The project prototype is based on NodeJS to monitor sensors mounted on a travelling vehicle and to send notifications to the cloud. A light sensor embedded into a car measures the illumination and if the sensor readings indicates it to be dark at night (due to a defective street light) then the location of the car is fetched either by via onboard GPS of the car or mobile of the driver or passenger. This information is sent to a cloud server monitored by city services and hence making it easy for them to send repair personnel.
You can watch the video of the demonstration prototype below and also learn more about development with Tizen, Iotivity and Artik Cloud in the slideshow further below it.
