When is trading coming to Pokemon TCG Pocket?

Pokemon TCG Pocket is a really multifaceted experience allowing you to enjoy opening packs, earning new cards via events, and even collating your best Pokemon into decks to battle against others.

However, one main part of the trading card game has been missing – the trading.

Here, we’ll discuss what we know on when trading will come to Pokemon TCG Pocket so you’re up to speed on when you can offload some of those cards you simply do not want or use.

Pokemon TCG Pocket trading: When does it launch?

Even though the game states that the trading function is “Coming Soon” we finally have some concrete information as to when the feature will be launching.

The official social media accounts for Pokemon TCG Pocket have stated that trading will come to Pokemon TCG Pocket in January 2025, meaning if you’re still playing until the new year, you’ll be able to swap duplicates with your friends.

One caveat to this though is that the developers also suggested that only “certain cards” will be tradable.

As to what these cards may be is up in the air at the moment but if we were to guess, it could be in relation to promo cards or supporter/item cards that you usually acquire through other means, rather than packs.

This pool of cards will “gradually expand” over time but sadly, there are no specific dates on this, it could be a couple of months or a whole year.

When the trade function is fully complete though with all cards available for transfer, we’re sure official communication from the team will be shared as soon as that happens.

In the meantime, let’s wait for what January 2025 brings for trading and gauge how big of a challenge it may be for the devs.
