WhatsApp was an app that enjoyed the number one spot in the Tizen Store almost from the first time it was released on the Tizen Smartphone Platform, but times change and its time for it to get dislodged from the top spot. IMO, an instant messaging chat and video calls app, which happens to be one of the most requested apps by our readers is now in the pole position – It will be Interesting to see if it will remain first place during September.
Most of the rest of the top line up hasn’t changed much from last month: SHAREIt, Facebook, MX Player, UC Browser for Tizen, Xender, Calendar and UC Mini Browser. Hancom Office Viewer is in position 15 following a new update at the end of the month.
The Tizen store has attracted many new app entries of late ever since Samsung introduced the Tizen Mobile App Incentive Program. The program pays the top 100 downloaded apps every month with a $10,000 cash prize. As you can imagine many Indie developers have taken this opportunity to create some unique apps for this new platform across categories such as games, utilities, entertainment, professional, etc.
