The following is quite an Interesting project that was created by some university students, who are members of the Dokuzen project. They used a Tizen Smart phone to communicate with a Raspberry Pi board, which in turn allowed it to control a Robot !!!!! The Tizen Smart Phone had OS 2.2.1 on it and communicated using WiFi and NFC to a Raspberry Pi board running Raspian, there was also a Windows PC that was connected using WiFi.
Using input device / control events in the Tizen Linux they were able to control mouse and keyboard events. You can charge the Tizen phone when it is place inside the robots head, and notifications messages are displayed in the robots LCD screen. You can also perform file transfers between devices and even use the robot as a media output device.
Planned functions
- Dokuzen Robot will be connected to Gear 2 or future Gear series (Gear S?). So now the wait is for Tizen 3.0 with the focus on personal home networking / gateway.
- We have planned to support other mobile platforms such as Android and iOS.
- For the home gateway or home networking, Camera sensor will be added to the Robot’s head. If it detects any humans, it will move, deterring any intruders.
- Other Plans
– wireless charging system
– add bluetooth headset, you can listen to music via Bluetooth.
