At present, Tizen mobiles are already available in parts of the Asia Pacific and Middle East & Africa. Today, there has been some changes to the Tizen Store Office Terms and Conditions that show Samsung is accepting mobile app payments in more countries in those regions and also branching out to South America. Below is the official updated Tizen Mobile country list:
Asia Pacific: Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan. Middle East & Africa: Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Congo, Zambia, Mauritius, Senegal, Egypt. South America: Peru, Bolivia.
There are 18 countries in total that “should” see the rollout of the Samsung Z4, but we are also hoping for another Tizen mobile to be released before the end of the year, something that Samsung has already hinted at. We are hoping that this new Q2 2017 model has higher specs to give users more choice of what type of Tizen device they want.
Samsung has already seen strong sales of Tizen Smartphones with over 3 Million devices sold so far. By the end of 2017, we will be looking at the devices to be available in over 50 countries, which is a significant increase in user base in just one year and Samsung will be hoping to have sold over 10 Million units. We expect Samsung to bundle some unique combinations of services and data plans to entice new customers to this new platform. The plan is more customers = Stronger Tizen ecosystem that will appeal to application developers and prospective partners.
The Tizen smartphone story began with the Samsung Z1, which was released on 14 January 2015 to the Indian market. On October 14, 2015, Samsung unveiled the second Tizen smartphone, Samsung Z3, again in India, with slightly higher specifications and more features than the Z1. On August 23, 2016, Samsung unveiled its third smartphone powered by the Tizen operating system in India, Samsung Z2, which was the company’s first 4G Tizen smartphone. The Samsung Z4 represents the latest device that was announced on 12 May 2017 and unveiled at the recent Tizen Developer Conference (TDC) 2017. You can find our first hands-on with the device here.
