Social media platforms have evolved quite a bit since they first came on the scene. Now, we have the stories that we can share as well as Snapchat letting people send each other private images. Next comes the app ‘Threads’. Haven’t heard of it? Threads is a private sharing app made by Facebook to let you quickly send snaps to friends on Instagram.
Instagram once made an attempt to directly compete with Snapchat but that was shut down earlier this year – in May.
In the Threads App
When you download and open Threads, you’ll be asked to pick close friends and groups you chat with often. After you’ve done this, you’ll be able to select them as a shortcut from the viewfinder so then whatever you take pictures of and edit will be sent to the friends and groups you have picked straight away. The conversations that you are having on Instagram can be finished off from the home page of the Threads app. So it’s quite useful.
The app also has a Status feature. It’s very similar to Facebook’s “Feeling/Activity” feature. On Threads, you can let people know whether you are “studying”, “eating”, “watching” etc. So you can also let people know if it seems ok to bother you or not.
Automatic updates are turned on so that your status changes with your locations and over time. You can also see other people’s live updates in the app. If you don’t want to share your location with Facebook you can use the toggle to simply switch the feature off from the Status panel.
As well as this, if you like colours as much as I do, you’ll be happy to learn that there are five colour schemes on the Threads app but I’ll let you find out what they are for yourselves 😉
