Telegram, a well established messaging app that has become popular with the tech-savvy among us, has today mysteriously disappeared from the Apple AppStore. The App was previously available for both the iPhone and iPad – and both the normal Telegram and the newer Telegram X apps have both vanished.
Initially concerned users speculated that this event was somehow related to the major update that was announced for Telegram for Android. Although these two events are not related, we do live in a tit-for-tat world, so, anything is possible, especially behind the close walls of Apple.
Now, Telegrams CEO Pavel Durov, has tweeted that the app should be back in the store soon, citing inappropriate content as the reason behind the apps being removed:
We were alerted by Apple that inappropriate content was made available to our users and both apps were taken off the App Store. Once we have protections in place we expect the apps to be back on the App Store.

Also, according to Telegram support, the App should be back in the store soon. Unfortunately, if the guys over at Telegram have to submit a new version of the app, that could take time as Apple are famous for taking a long time to vet apps for the store.
We will keep you updated on this story, as I need Telegram back!!!!!! Update: Without further drama, the apps have returned 🙂
