Spotify has announced that its Music Streaming service will now be officially available in 13 more markets in the Middle East and North Africa. Spotify also launched its ‘Arab hub’ collection of playlists of Arab music. The service is the Music Streaming partner of choice for Samsung as it is available on all their different platforms, including TVs, Mobiles, and wearables. Recently, Samsung have even updated their Music app to include its very own Spotify Tab.
The full list of countries that the service will expand to includes UAE, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the Palestine territories. Both the Premium and the free services are now available. Middle Eastern countries that will not receive the service, for now, will be Libya, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen. Israel already has access to Spotify since March 2018.
The service has been “unofficially” available in these countries by the aid of people using a workaround – basically using accounts that had already been registered in other official markets such as Europe.
Spotify will charge per month for its premium service 19.99 riyals ($5.33) in Saudi Arabia, 19.99 dirhams ($5.44) in the UAE, 49.99 Egyptian pounds ($2.8) in Egypt, and $4.99 elsewhere in the Middle East and North Africa. Its free service is also now available in the region.
The company, based in Sweden, was founded in 2008 and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Its catalogue of over 30 Million Music tracks can now be accessed in 78 countries.
