Today, we have some great news for wearable music lovers as Spotify, the popular music streaming and discovery service, has released its native Spotify app for the Samsung Gear S2 / S3 devices. Using the app you can effectively remote control Spotify on your mobile for FREE.
You can listen to their full catalogue of music and play any artist, albums, or playlists on shuffle mode. If you use Spotify premium then you can play any song you wish directly on either WiFi or 3G/LTE with no Ads that can disrupt your listening pleasure. Spotify is one of the big apps that were named as coming soon at the launch event, so it is great to see it being released.
The app lets you choose from Recently played, Your Library, Browse new releases, Top lists, Generes & Moods. If you don’t find what you’re looking for you then you can also choose from your own Playlists.
When you are in Play mode you can rotate the bezel which allows you to skip to the next or previous track depending on what direction you rotate it in. A great feature is that the once you start playing the song, and then press the back button to browse other music the current song minimizes to the bottom of the screen, which means you can easily return to it. Simple, but damn effective.
Whilst playing a track you have a symbol with three dots on it at the bottom of the screen, which once pressed give you further options of shuffle, save, repeat and volume. I have to say that this is the first time I’ve actually used the Spotify service and I’m very impressed how well it marries with a wearable app. Get downloading now from the Galaxy Apps Store via your Gear Manager App.
Another music service that we have recently covered is Wammer, which is a music hub designed for Samsung devices that run the Tizen Operating System. It is not currently available to download at the moment but hopefully will be soon. Keep following Team Tizen for all the news.
