There is a new app in town and it lets you turn your Tizen-powered Samsung Gear S2, Gear Fit 2 or Android wear smartwatch into your very own Golf coach. The app known as SlamdunQ Golf helps you analyze your swing through using data recorded by the smartwatch and several parameters.
The app uses the parameters detected by the wearable device in analyzing the swing just the way a golf coach would do and present the data in a clear, summarized form that can be worked with. Not only that, the app renders the swing moment in exactly the same way you swinged your hands, giving you an action replay which could aid better performance.
All that is required is the SlamdunQ Golf app and a smartwatch. Not just any smartwatch though, the app supports the Samsung Gear S2, Samsung Gear Fit2, LG-G and LG-Urbane watches, Sony Smartwatch 3, Asus ZenWatch, Huawei Watch, and Moto360 2nd Gen.
The SlamdunQ Golf app is said to have been tested on the Moto 360 smartwatch. The app works fine but occasional freezing of the sensors was detected. This can however be corrected by reseting the app.
In terms of the permissions the app require, the SlamdunQ Golf requires permission to access body sensors like heart rate monitors for added functions and this is required only if you connect to Google fit or S Health services. The data is used to calculate overall calorie burned by playing and walking in the golf course which is quite good. The app will in the future also require access to your exact location via GPS to enable it track golf courses and hole mapping. The feature is still being worked on.
In addition, there’s need to access the external storage of the smartwatch in order to store swing data locally for offline analysis later on.
The SlamdunQ Golf app is available for download on Google Play Store
