Siri with ChatGPT has launched in iOS 18.2 beta, here’s how to get it

Siri has had a huge AI-powered upgrade in Apple’s latest software update iOS 18.2, as it now has ChatGPT by its side.

The iPhone maker released the next batch of its Apple Intelligence features through a beta launch to developers on Wednesday (October 23) with one of the most notable changes being the integration of ChatGPT.

This long-awaited introduction has finally happened as the chatbot and Siri merge together to provide better answers to users’ questions.

Through this new update, users can ask Siri to carry out an action and it’ll then pass it on to ChatGPT to fulfill the demand. This includes being able to utilize its image and document understanding capabilities, without having to jump between different apps and tools.

“Siri can tap into ChatGPT’s expertise when helpful. Users are asked before any questions are sent to ChatGPT, along with any documents or photos, and Siri then presents the answer directly,” shared Apple in a statement when first introducing the Intelligence features.

How to install Siri with ChatGPT on iPhone in iOS 18.2 beta

A full rollout of iOS 18.2 hasn’t yet taken place, with Apple’s recent launch being in developer beta mode only.

This means it’s a pre-release version intended to allow developers to get to grips with the latest features, but it is available to anyone free of charge.

If you’re looking to experience the beta version, you must first sign up for a waitlist to use Apple Intelligence via the settings on the iPhone. You need an iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max or any in the iPhone 16 range.

Once you’ve signed up on the waitlist and gotten through, here are the steps you need to take to install Siri with ChatGPT and the other features in the second wave of Apple Intelligence.

  1. Sign in to the Apple beta software program website with your Apple ID.
  2. You’ll be presented with terms and conditions, read through and then click agree if you wish to go ahead.
  3. Enroll your device.
  4. Install the beta profile by going to settings, then general, then profile. Install the beta profile.
  5. You should now have a software update appear, click on iOS 18.2 developer beta and download.
  6. Enable ChatGPT in settings by going to Apple Intelligence & Siri and then turning on the ChatGPT toggle.

Once you’ve completed the above, you’ll be able to use Siri with ChatGPT in iOS 18.2.
