The first two episodes of Severance season two are now available on Apple TV+, and viewers around the world are tuning in to see what exactly Mark (Adam Scott) and his colleagues will get up to next in the hit dystopian thriller.
Lauded as excellent and receiving a ‘perfect’ score on Rotten Tomatoes from pre-launch reviews, critics broadly seem to think the second season is handily keeping up with the precedent for excellence set by the first. Others thought that while excellent, season two doesn’t quite meet the high mark set by the exceptional first season.

Reviewing the series for The Independent, Annabel Nugent has given season two a five-star rating and described it as “strange, stylish, and totally engrossing.” She describes it as “one of the best shows on TV” but recommends fans pay a revisit to season one before diving in because season two runs the risk of “under-explaining” itself.
LA Times culture critic Lorraine Ali described season two as a “refined, thrilling masterwork”, while Kathryn VanArendonk for The Vulture says “it was worth the wait”, despite the end of season two being “frustrating”.
