Sebastian Nyström has now been appointed to head the MeeGo team at Nokia, Tasked with all future MeeGo efforts. He has been previously leading Qt at Nokia, making the framework available under open source, free-of-charge LGPL license.
Sebastian has defined his role to Nokia as:
1. Launching a product from our MeeGo program later this year. We believe our upcoming device will have unique appeal to the style-conscious, connected enthusiast.
2. Keeping Nokia on track to deliver necessary software updates following launch of the product.
3. Working with the Linux Foundation, Intel and the wider community to plan Nokia’s future involvement in meego.com.
It is promised that we will see more of Sebastian in the coming weeks when Nokia are preparing for participation in the MeeGo Conference in San Francisco.
In the Meanwhile Peter Schneider has also tweeted the following, which can only cause the weary MeeGo handset followers more waiting anguish among all the turmoil that is Nokia of late.

Not too long after came another tweet confirming the software backup required to the said MeeGo device
Yes. Another tweet confirming that Nokia did want to continue working with the Linux Foundation, Intel and the wider community to plan Nokia’s future involvement in MeeGo.com.
