Satisfactory has almost an infinite amount of resources to gather up both contributing to your structures and transportation systems, creating the perfect ‘factory’.
SAM Ore is a particularly rare find and you’ll be needing some in order to progress a certain aspect of the game.
Here, we’ll explain what the mysterious SAM Ore is in Satisfactory as well as where to find it, hopefully making your hunt much more streamlined.
What is SAM Ore in Satisfactory?
Strange Alien Metal or SAM Ore in Satisfactory actually isn’t used for crafting in the game currently and is instead, needed to advance the story.
There will be a more useful purpose for it but this hasn’t been included in the 1.0 release.
You will know when you see it as it has a unique look to it, with an almost galaxy set of colors that emit off the stone.
Where to find SAM Ore in Satisfactory 1.0
You can only find SAM Ore in very specific places within the Satisfactory world.
Here are all of the locations we’ve managed to find SAM Ore in the game:
- Grass Fields – Look at the bottom of the pit under the giant arch.
- Rocky Desert – On the east of the area you should see four coal deposits and a cave entrance. Inside there should also be a SAM Ore spawn.
- Northern Forest – In Spire Coast at both northwest and northeast points should be SAM Ore nodes.
- Dune Desert – Head up to the top of the western mountains and next to the crash site of the most northern peak should be a deposit.
Once you locate some SAM ore from the locations above, you can, in fact, mine it using your hands, something you might not expect.
Additionally, the deposits do respawn so if you require more for your stores, you are able to do some farming.
