Samsung has partnered with popular file transfer app Xender to produce a native Tizen version of the Xender app. This collaboration will give users a suitable platform to transfer files over short distances.
Officially, the Tizen version of Xender app was unveiled on the 8th of May and it can be downloaded from Tizen store. This app was ranked fifth in the list of most popular Tizen apps/games for May 2017 despite only being a few weeks old. Within the first few weeks of its official release, the Tizen version of Xender app got over 150,000 downloads and at some point was ranked among the top 3 apps in the Tizen Store.
Peter Jiang, Founder, and CEO of Xender said that
“We are delighted to partner with Samsung and provide a fast file-transfer solution for Tizen users. With Samsung being a household name in India, Xender also foresees a rub-off effect in its active user-base,” He further added that “This partnership holds great strategic significance for our company and will further strengthen our leadership in the file-transfer field. We will continue to expand and fortify cooperation with other international brands in the future too,”.
Xender sends files much much faster than Bluetooth (up to 200 times). Xender is a cross-platform app that transfer files perfectly across devices running on Tizen, Android and iOS operating systems.
Since the official launch of the native Xender app, more apps are being developed specifically for the Tizen OS. This is an indication of the growing popularity of the Tizen OS, especially among the developer community. Samsung is strongly encouraging developers to design apps on the Tizen platform and it stated this in the just concluded Tizen Developer Conference (TDC) 2017, which was successfully held on May 17th and 18th at Hilton Union Square Hotel in San Francisco. It has also developed incentives where developers go home with $10,000 if their app(s) rank among the top 100 each month for a given period.
