Samsung Electronics sees Tizen as an Important Operating System choice. It gives them their own OS, that they can develop in a direction that they choose. We’ve have various Smart devices being released like the Samsung NX30 Smart Camera, Samsung Gear 2 Smartwatch, as well as upcoming devices like the Gear S Smartwatch, NX1 SmartCamera and Tizen TV.
“It’s important to have your own software (as a guarantee of the future), we will not give up with Tizen,” Samsung said Vice Chairman Lee Jay-yong (Jay Lee), adding that the company will continue to add significant labor software to work on developing Tizen OS.
According to industry sources originally reported by the website Tizen Indonesia, Samsung Electronics has began slowly shifting staff from working on the Android OS to Tizen. We are not looking at small numbers either, possibly up to 1000 people have been selected for this move, incuding some that have been working on the Samsung Galaxy Smartphone range. To achieve success with Tizen, total numbers of 5,000 workers have been mentioned, but I would file this information as rumour for now.
It would be fantastic to see this type of Information made public by Samsung, as it would certainly add credibility to the OS, and give developers the confidence to develop for Tizen.
