The Samsung Gear S3 is among the most popular smartwatches currently in the market. Often dubbed “military grade”, this smartwatch has great abilities ranging from its water resistance feature to its compatibility with electronic payment. Samsung has been expanding the reach of this smartwatch and some months ago we saw the Gear S3 smartwatch with a customized display for Portuguese Air Force, this was closely followed by the TUMI EDITION of this watch and most recently, we had the NBA Gear Watch developed by Turner NBA Digital. Now Samsung Electronics in collaboration with Golfzon Co. (local developer of indoor golf simulators) has developed the Gear S3 Golf Edition which is optimized for golfers.
This edition was unveiled yesterday in South Korea and it comes with the Smart Caddie application which gives information on 60,000 golf courses worldwide. With the Smart Caddie app, users can get details which assist golf players/lovers and it can also provide real-time location information. The South Korean tech giant added that it also shows geographical features of the course including its topography.
The Gear S3 Golf Edition comes with a price tag of 399,300 Won (US$352). The device is available at major golf equipment shops throughout the country.
As a reminder, the Gear S3 Frontier is a Tizen-powered smartwatch which features a circular 1.3-inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display and a Corning’s Gorilla Glass SR+ for improved scratch resistance. The Gear S3 is powered by an Exynos 7270 dual-core processor coupled with 768 MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. The Tizen OS and 1GHz Exynos 7270 processor team up together to give you a seamless user interface. Samsung Gear S3 series is MIL-STD-810G and IP68 certified which means that it is resistant to dust and water. It further supports making/receiving calls and sending/receiving SMS and other messages if paired with a smartphone. It is compatible with Android 4.4 or higher as well as iOS 9.0 or later. Navigating through the menu of this watch is quite easy with its rotating bezel and touchscreen functions. It houses a 380mAh battery which is compatible with wireless charging and can last for 3 to 4 days depending on usage. Other features of the Gear S3 Frontier include an altimeter, barometer, gyroscope, Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS / GLONASS navigation, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). The Samsung gear S3 is compatible with Samsung Pay which allows you to seamlessly pay for commodities without pulling out your wallet.
