Samsung QLED TV now offers 10-year burn-in warranty globally

Samsung is poised to expand its QLED smart TV owner base with its latest offer coming as a bit of a surprise. The company had first announced a couple of months back that its QLED TVs will now come with a 10-year warranty for owners based in South Korea and Europe. Later on, the company extended the offer to its customers in North America. Now, the 10-year warranty for the QLED TV range now covers customers all over the world. This was disclosed by the Korean tech giant on July 25.
The Samsung QLED TV models were unveiled at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2017) in Las Vegas. The premium Smart TV comes in a number of models based on the screen sizes. All models of Samsung’s Quantum Dot LED TVs utilize Quantum Dot (QD) technology to produce greater brightness, thus leading to greater color volume (a full color gamut) that produces deep, dark blacks. Quantum Dot also provides the needed brightness that enhances the overall color production and viewing experience.

Screen burn-in is a permanent discoloration of areas on an electronic display caused by the cumulative non-uniform usage of the pixels. Simply put, it can result from allowing the same picture or image to be repeatedly exposed to a single spot on the TV screen. This could then result in the color of pictures or images not being displayed properly or the screen looking like it has a stain (image retention). Although LED TVs are much less susceptible to burn-in than Plasma TVs, LED TVs are still subject to screen burn-in. Samsung perhaps believes in the superiority of its
Samsung perhaps believes in the superiority of its Quantom Dot technology hence the long term warranty available. This opinion has also been expressed by a Samsung representative who stated thus:-

“With strong confidence in QLED TV’s product performance, we are offering a 10-year warranty for our QLED TVs around the world,”

Apart from the QLED display which has a 10-year warranty, Samsung is also offering 5-year warranties for the QLED TV’s components like the motherboard and others.
