Samsung Pay gets PayPal integration in the US

Back in July 2017, Samsung had announced the addition of PayPal as a payment method for Samsung Pay in-app, online, and in-store payments. However, nothing really materialised up until now. But almost a year later, Samsung Pay finally gets PayPal integration in the US.

PayPal support in Samsung Pay

Samsung has begun to roll-out PayPal support in Samsung Pay in the US. The service is not yet live for all, but some users notice it on their phones. The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is reportedly the first phone to offer PayPal support in Samsung Pay. Samsung is expected to add more devices and expand the service to more users globally soon.
Samsung Pay users in the US, meanwhile, can now integrate PayPal account into Samsung Pay by completing few steps. All you’ve to do is to select the “Add (+)” icon at the top right of the Samsung Pay home screen. There, you’ll see the “Add PayPal” option beside the “Add Credit/Debit Card” button. Select the option, and fill out the form with asked credentials to complete the integration.

This new PayPal integration allows Samsung Pay users to spend money directly from their PayPal account in various stores throughout the US. As Samsung Pay is both NFC and MST compatible, it works seamlessly in almost every store with a standard credit card reader. All you need is to make sure your bank and credit card support Samsung Pay.
As per user reports, the new PayPal feature is available only on Samsung Pay version 2.8.29 or higher. I can’t confirm the same from outside of the US, but the timeline of the update somewhat supports the user claims. If you still don’t see the PayPal option on your Samsung Pay app, try updating it, if available. However, as is the case with every such rollout, you may still not see the option for a couple of days.
Even so, the update is real, and the PayPal integration in Samsung Pay is finally here. If you are in the US, and a user of Samsung Pay, don’t forget to tell us how you like it.
