Samsung Pay has been in Russia almost an entire year now, and just expanded to three more Russian banks this week as well as Ural Bank last month, showing Samsung’s commitment to mobile payments in the country. But Samsung Pay can still expand even further. This is the motivation behind the addition of Samsung Pay club card support for Russian users.
Samsung took to its blog to announce the new club card support for Russian Samsung Galaxy smartphone users and Gear smartwatch users. “Samsung Pay’s goal is to make life of users of Samsung devices more comfortable. The new function perfectly copes with this task: you do not have to carry a dozen plastic cards with you and worry that you can forget at home or lose one of them. Everything you need is stored in your smartphone, ” said Dmitry Gostev, head of Samsung Mobile in Russia.
The new club card support now allows you to add club cards with barcode, and club cards without barcode and magnetic strip that still contain a card number. Club card support now allows you to carry these cards as virtual items in your smartphone so that you need not continue to fight between your phone and your wallet when it comes to card usage. The mobile payments service is available for Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge (by way of NFC, no MST available), Galaxy Note 5, as well as the Galaxy A (2017) series, Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016), Galaxy J5 (2017), Galaxy J7 (2017), and the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier.
Samsung Pay in Russia is already available for customers of PJSC AK BARS Bank, Alfa-Bank, Binbank, VTB24, Gazprombank, Bank Soyuz, SKB-Bank, Devon-Credit Bank, Credit Ural Bank, MegaFon, MTS and MTS bank card Bank, Bank Otkrytie, Promsvyazbank, Raiffeisenbank, Roketbank, RosEvroBank, JSC Rosselkhozbank, Russian Standard Bank, Bank Saint Petersburg, Sberbank, Tinkoff Bank, Point and Yandex.Money.
Samsung Pay mobile payments since the Korean giant unveiled it two years ago now total over $8.77 billion.
