The Gear S3 has made its way to several markets over the last couple of weeks. Now, customers in Canada can buy the S3 directly from Samsung, like you already can in the US and UK, for the price of CAD $469. You can purchase both both variants, the Gear S3 Classic and Gear S3 Frontier, directly from Samsung online, Samsung Experience Stores, and other major retailers across the country. Best Buy in Canada were probably the first retailer to offer the smartwatch.
Samsung’s decision to re-introduce a speaker phone on the S3, which allows “hands-free” calls from the smartwatch, is a great idea. This feature was previously available on the Gear S but then, to our disappointment, was removed from the S2 feature list.
With the S3 you get Samsung Pay, GPS, IP68 water and dust resistance, AMOLED screen with Always On Display (AOD), as well as other features and sensors. Like the S2, the S3 has a rotating bezel that allows you to navigate through the user Interface with ease. Users can still purchase the Gear S2, if that appeals to you more, for CAD $319 (Sport) and CAD $369 (Classic).
If you are in the US you can find some great savings on the S2 and S3 as part of the Black Friday Deals. You can check out our unboxing video and pictures of the S3 to give you an idea of what it looks like and what comes in the blue box.
