Last month, the largest update to arrive the Gear S3 touched down in form of a Value Pack Update which contains the latest Tizen 3.0 OS. Many users were happy with the upgrade to Tizen 3.0 because it was meant to improve the entire performance of this smartwatch in addition to the new features which it packs but it also introduced a bug. A few days after the update arrived, some users had certain complaints about the workability of their device and all the issues were related to its battery. Most users reported that the battery drains at an alarming rate while others experienced irregular charging. Samsung had to quickly discontinue the release of the update and launched the revised version of the Tizen 3.0 update within a couple of days. Now, the Gear S3 in Europe is receiving the revised update.
Although this revised version (R760XXU2BQC5) for the Gear S3 was released a few days after the previous R760XXU2CQK3 firmware version, most users were already stuck with the old release. Subsequently, Samsung Netherlands confirmed that the old update had to be discontinued because of the battery issues that come with it. This revised update for the Gear S3 hit North America last week and now, Europe is receiving the same. This update comes with the designation R760XXU2CQL1 and it is reported to contain the battery fix for the Gear S3. Just like most updates, the Gear S3 firmware update release is done in stages and different regions will probably receive this update at different times.
