The Samsung Z2 launch which was initially planned for the month of September in Indonesia, however that didn’t turn out to be true. Samsung Indonesia have finally launched the Z2 in the country at an official launch event. The launch took place at the country’s capital Jakarta on Wednesday that is the 19th of October. The smartphone has been priced at 899,000 Indonesian Rupiah ($70 approx.). Samsung are also bundling a free Batik back cover with the smartphone for the early customers. This is also the first Tizen smartphone to be launched in Indonesia.
The Samsung Z2 was launched initially in India back in August 2016. The Z2 is the first Tizen device to support 4G LTE services along with VoLTE connectivity. The Z2 features a 4 inch TFT touchscreen with a resolution of 400x800p. It has a 5MP primary camera with LED flash and a VGA secondary front facing camera suitable for video calls. The Smartphone has an embedded Spreadtrum SC9830 SOC which features a Quad Core 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A7 CPU and the Mali 400 MP2 GPU. The Z2 has 8 GB of internal storage (5GB of usable space) and 1 GB RAM. The smartphone has dual sim support, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity features as well. It is powered by a 1,500 mah Li-ion battery, which according to Samsung is capable of keeping the phone running for an entire day. The smartphone is based Tizen mobile OS version 2.4 and has features such as ultra data saving mode, ultra battery saving mode, S Bike mode, etc.
Samsung Indonesia are hosting a app development challenge called Indonesia Next App (INA) 3.0 competition to motivate developers to build apps for Virtual Reality and more importantly for Tizen based smartphones as well as wearable devices like the Gear S2, S3,etc.
