Samsung to invest in Ubitus cloud gaming service

 
Ubitus Inc., a leading provider of cloud gaming technology solutions, today announced that it has received an investment of more than $ 15 million in cash from Samsung Venture Investment Corporation (Samsung Ventures) for the development of cloud gaming technology to the next level.
Since cloud gaming spreads first time in Japan in September 2011, Ubitus has led the global market in deploying commercial cloud gaming service with top-tier operators and leading hardware vendors that cover the entire United States, Japan, South Korea and China (including Hong Kong). Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, Ubitus now has more than 200 employees and offices in USA, Japan, Korea and China.
Supported by a solid proven track record in the market, a new round of funding led by Samsung Ventures, an investment firm owned by Samsung Group with funding for companies to closely linked to the overall strategy of the Samsung Group, will further support Ubitus to determine in advance the future of cloud gaming to a level unprecedented in the market especially Smart TV and mobile devices.
“We are very pleased that leading investors such as Samsung Ventures willing to invest their shares in Ubitus that makes video games can be played and accessed services like streaming movies and music today that could change the way people enjoy the game in the last 20 years,” said Wesley Kuo, CEO of Ubitus.
In the future, with new investments that have been collected, Ubitus committed to improving cloud gaming to the next level by building a new gaming experience with more features and instant social expected to be released on Samsung devices in Q3 this year.
Popular products utilizing their mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and Smart TVs, Samsung Electronics has started building a gaming business as one of the new strategies to increase revenue. For this, Samsung has set up a fund of up to tens of billions of won to bombard the game developers with money to make gaming ecosystem for Samsung Apps and Tizen STORE, with the new – the new software they have recruited expert who is a former executive director of NHN Kim Kyu-ho , who will begin work this month as a managing director who will give a boost to the gaming business in the Media Solution Center (MSC) and acquire multi-screen gaming movl .
