Last week, Samsung’s latest wearable, Gear Fit 2 Pro was announced and now, it has been confirmed that Samsung will unveil a new wearable. The details of this expected device are still sketchy but certainly, it is called Gear Sport. This has been widely rumored considering the recent FCC filing which shows the back of a circular ‘wrist’ device with a heart-rate monitor and the model number SM-R600. FCC certification is required before any device is released. Earlier today a landing page went live for a device with model number SM-R600, which we know is the Gear Sport.

Release Date
Speaking to CNBC, the president of Samsung’s mobile division, DJ Koh, said that Samsung will use IFA as it has in previous years to announce a new wearable. The IFA tech conference will be held in Berlin, Germany on the 30th of August (in two days) and from all indication, the wearable to be released will be a smartwatch.
Price
The price of this device is the most difficult speculation to make because the individual features of the wearable are not confirmed. However, we don’t expect this product to come cheap. Assuming that this is a smartwatch, we expect this product to be at par with Apple watch pricing which is about $400 for the 42mm model thus anywhere between $300 to $400 will not be bad. Nevertheless, if it is a fitness tracker which is most unlikely, it should be more expensive than the Gear Fit 2 Pro which is expected to sell for $199 and in that case, we may be looking at a device with a price tag between $250 and $350.
