The Gear S3 Frontier is now receiving an update that would be very useful to a lot of users. A third party messaging app now supports vibration notification which makes the usability of apps like WhatsApp seamless. For now, this app which is only 7MB in size is rolling out in the US but it would penetrate other regions soon.
Samsung has given much attention to the Gear S3. Apart from rolling out this update, it took its time to fix the S Voice issue that came with a prior update. This update is coming at a time where all minds are in Berlin at the IFA conference where Samsung will release the Gear Sport which is believed to be superior to the Gear S3. With the timing of this update, it is quite certain that its support will continue even after the launch of the Samsung Gear Sport.
As a reminder, the Gear S3 Frontier is a Tizen-powered smartwatch which features a circular 1.3-inch 360×360 Super AMOLED display with 278 PPI and a Corning’s Gorilla Glass SR+ for improved scratch resistance. The Gear S3 is powered by an Exynos 7270 dual-core processor coupled with 768 MB of RAM and 4GB of internal memory. The Tizen OS and 1GHz Exynos 7270 processor team up together to give you a seamless user interface. It further supports making/receiving calls and sending/receiving SMS and other messages if paired with a smartphone. It is compatible with Android 4.4 or higher as well as iOS 9.0 or later. Navigating through the menu of this watch is quite easy with its rotating bezel and touch screen functions. It houses a 380mAh battery which is compatible with wireless charging and can last for 3 to 4 days depending on usage. Other features of the Gear S3 Frontier include an altimeter, barometer, gyroscope, Bluetooth connectivity, Wi-Fi, GPS / GLONASS navigation, Near Field Communication (NFC) and Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST). This smartwatch is compatible with Samsung Pay which allows you to seamlessly pay for commodities without pulling out your wallet.
