Samsung to extend Tizen device ecosystem with Tizen 4.0

In 2015, Samsung launched its Tizen-powered Z1 in India, BangladeshSri Lanka, and Nepal. The Z3 launched the same year in Russia (Moscow), China, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia, signalling the success of the Z1. In 2016, Samsung launched the somewhat-out-of-numerical-order Z2, making it the first 4G-capable, Tizen-powered smartphone in world history. And yet, the secret to growth is to expand one’s selling base Samsung must push hardware sales and expand app store services into ignored areas in order to encourage greater market expansion and profitability of the fledgeling platform.
Samsung’s Hokyu Choi took to the stage at the Tizen Developer Conference (TDC) this week to inform attendees about the progress of the New Tizen Smartphone and Tizen Incentive Program, but he also had some hardware news along with it. Samsung already said the Z4 would come to the TDC and, as expected, it has appeared “in the flesh” at the TDC.
The Samsung Z4 provides some great features of its own, such as 4G LTE, VoLTE, and VoWiFi support as well as its 2.5D glass design and pre-installed Tizen 3.0. Samsung looks to capitalize on the new selfie trend with bright and clear selfies in the Z4. Other features such as Quick Talk, Quick Camera Switch, and Switchable Video Recording make the Z4 more functional than say, the previous-generation Z3. The Samsung Z4 comes pre-loaded with Tizen 3.0, bringing minimalistic icons, new themes, modern-designed widgets, Dual Profile apps, Quick Talk voice command capabilities, and Quick Reads.
The best news of the TDC, apart from the Samsung Z4, pertains to the spread of Tizen smartphones such as the Z4 into other countries and continents. This year (2017), the Tizen-powered Z4 and other Tizen smartphones (yes, the word smartphones implies others to come) will arrive in the Middle East Asia and Latin American countries of Iran, Egypt, Pakistan, Bolivia, Peru, and the entire African continent (where the manufacturer has been selling Smart TVs since 2015).
Samsung will extend the Tizen ecosystem with Tizen 4.0, which is expected to roll out to the market later this year – bringing all sorts of new functionalities to the platform, including AI, Augmented/Virtual/Mixed Reality, IoT, and more.
