Samsung Electronics has taken over ownership of “movl,” a pioneering company that developed the platform and multi-screen applications based in the United States. Interest is that Samsung’s latest move is in line with their plans to strengthen the content and services that include multi-platform smartphone, Smart TV, PC, tablet and even to household appliances.
Movl is a startup or established company pioneering two and a half years ago in Atlanta. The company has developed a multi-screen applications such as ‘Poker Fun’, ‘WeDraw’ and existing games on other Smart TV which provides services such as ‘SmartFitTV’ which allows users to perform exercise and a Smart TV via Smart ‘WeTeli’ which is an application social video.
Samsung said that they would be using the movl technology to develop multi-platform applications. The Smart TV market is another important reason for this acquisition. It is important to continue to provide new content for Smart TV users.
With the launch of Tizen it will be interesting to see how the new Linux based OS can take advantage of this new technology with Samsungs assistance.
With the SSP and SLP (Samsung Linux Platform, Tizen embryo), Samsung will be able to create convergence among all intelligent electronic devices in accordance with the motto homemade Tizen: Connecting anything with a screen. As the world’s # 1 vendor of smartphones and Smart TVs, Samsung also can create a strategy to increase revenue substantially from the software side.
