Samsung NX1 announced – the new Tizen Smart Camera with 0.055 Sec Auto Focus!!!

Samsung Electronics have announced the launch of their new technologically advanced NX Series Smart Camera, the Tizen Samsung NX1, which is now their Tizen flagship Camera taking over from the NX30. If you didn’t think Samsung would bring any worthy updates to the table, you really need to think again. Samsung really want to “focus” (excuse the pun) on why you should consider a fast compact system camera (CSC) as an alternative to a standard DSLR Camera. If you were impressed by the 0.3 sec Auto Focus (AF) speed of the NX30, then the NX1’s AF speed of 0.055sec will be truly mind blowing.
The specs, build quality and overall usability have had a significant bump to say the least. The NX1 is said to deliver superb image quality and unrivalled usability. You now get a newly designed 28MP APS-C CMOS Sensor, featuring an innovative Back Side Illumination (BSI) structure with a micro lens array, with native ISO 100-25600 and extended ISO to a massive 51200 !!!! This is all made possible due to the Powerful and Fast new DRIMe V Image Processor, and the new NX AF (Auto Focus) System III with a staggering 205 Phase Detection AF points. DRIMe V processor provides you with 2.8x faster processing times than the previous DRIMe IV processor, which makes all these new features possible.

”The NX1 represents the pinnacle of Samsung’s advanced photographic expertise and heralds a new era of intuitive, professional quality photography for everyone,” said Myoung Sup Han, Executive Vice President and Head of Imaging Business Team, IT & Mobile Communications business at Samsung Electronics. “With the launch of the NX1, Samsung is re-defining what is possible with an interchangeable lens camera, allowing photographers everywhere to achieve previously unimaginable levels of quality and expertise in each and every image they capture.”

The NX1 now brings up the possiblity of 4K UHD video recording, with 15FPS continuous AF shooting using a unique Auto Focus (AF) System III with 205 Phase Detection AF points. In order for your computer to not be overwhelmed with huge filesizes Samsung has inbuilt the most advanced compression HEVC Codec (H.265), offering half the size and bit rate of H.264 footage without compromising on quality.

This camera was made with durability in mind as the body is created with a magnesium alloy body, which is far lighter than steel or even aluminium, and is dust and splash resistant thanks to the rubber seals implemented around the buttons and dials. Again we have the Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) as found in the NX30, and an XGA OLED display with 2.36 million dots.
The 3.0-inch FVGA Super AMOLED display is touch sensitive, meaning that you can access most major functions on one screen and see adjustments take effect in real time. A new feature to come to a CSC is a top LCD panel, which is a standard feature on most DSLR’s and displays settings such as WB, drive and battery condition.
We also get a new lens to add to the NX Camera Lens series, taking them up to a total of 16 Lenses with addition of the new 50-150mm 2.8 S ED OIS lens. This lens adds to the versatility of the Camera and makes a good partner lens for the 16-50mm 2.0 S ED OIS lens that was launched at the same time as the NX30.
