I don’t know about you, but one of the features that I really liked on Galaxy S9 was the ability to rotate the home screen – oh yes, place your phone in landscape and carry on as normal, if only my Galaxy S8 had this simple but much-needed feature.
Well, Samsung has a new update for its Samsung Experience launcher making its rounds (global rollout), which will now enable you to rotate home screen on the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8. I’m glad Samsung is making this available to us S8’ers, as I was feeling a little left out. Samsung’s should look after users of older devices with new features, not just flagships.
In order to make use of this feature you must first visit the settings page, then Home screen settings and enable landscape mode. Once enabled you would think your ready to go? Not quite in this case. The option to rotate the home screen on the Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ and the Galaxy Note 8 has not appeared for everyone, even if you have the latest update. This would suggest Samsung are gathering user feedback/bugs before making it more widely available.
Do you want to check if you have the latest Samsung Experience software update? Go into Settings, Display, Home screen, and you should see an option for “Portrait mode only”. If you don’t see this then you are not on the latest version, which is 9.0.10.76, of the app. Go into About home screen and select update. If not, you will have to wait a little longer, but unfortunately, no one can tell you how long that will be.
