It’s finally time, the next Pokemon TCG Pocket expansion is here and is building on what both Genetic Apex and Mythical Island brought to the table, with generation four themed cards entering the fray.
After being under wraps for a while, the developers have given us a load of details on this upcoming set, including the release date, cards, and more.
Here, we’ll reveal what that Pokemon TCG Pocket Space-Time Smackdown release date is as well as other nuggets of information we’ve gathered.
Pokemon TCG Pocket Space-Time Smackdown release date and what we know so far
It has been almost three months since Pokemon TCG Pocket launched with set A1, also known as Genetic Apex, and January brings A2 — Space-Time Smackdown — shaking things up dramatically.
If you’re excited for new cards, the exact release date for Space-Time Smackdown is January 30, 2025, meaning you’ll be able to get started on your collection before the month is out.

The set will have two packs, rather than the three of Genetic Apex, which does mean that there will be less cards to collect but it’ll be double that of Mythical Island.
What this alludes to is that even though there are less cards, you’ll be ripping packs for some time here, even if you’ve stocked up on Pack Hourglasses from those Daily Gifts and completed missions.
Dialga and Palkia obviously take front and center in the card list but there will also be the likes of Torterra, Infernape, and Empoleon from Diamond and Pearl, which are not only fan-favorites but also very strong in the heat of battle.
Alongside a plethora of new Pokemon, there also seems to be the introduction of Pokemon Tools — a different type of Trainer card that hasn’t been made available in the game thus far.
This card variant has been in the physical TCG for some time now and will seriously shake up how battles are conducted.
All of this is great news for Pokemon TCG Pocket players, bringing another level of freshness to the game, and hopefully keeping you engaged now Genetic Apex has gotten a little stale.
