Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass – Is it worth it?

The newly released Pokemon TCG Pocket can be played for free, but offers a premium subscription for a monthly fee. So, the question on most Trainer’s minds is if the Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass is worth getting.

Firstly, whether or not to spend money on a mobile game is a personal choice. No matter how good or bad the ‘value’ of the Premium Pass is, if you are not planning on spending money on the game then it will not be a good choice for you.

However, if you do think you’re going to drop a few pennies here and there on the game then it’s worth looking at where you can get the most bang for your buck.

How much does the Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass cost?

The Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass costs $9.99 per month. Currently, new subscribers can get a two-week free trial of the Pass. As long as you remember to cancel after 13 days, you won’t get charged. This is a great way to see if you think the Premium Pass is worthwhile for you.

You could even try and be strategic with it. Assuming the offer remains open for some time, you could hold off to see if the next batch of items appeals to you more if you’re not a fan of the Mewtwo items available at the moment.

What does the Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass give you?

If you subscribe to the Pokemon TCG Pocket Premium Pass, you get the following benefits:

  • An extra booster pack every 24 hours, bringing your total up to three packs per day – a new Delibird timer will show up on your home screen counting down to your next premium present
  • Monthly premium missions that grant Premium tickets as well as other rewards
  • Access to the Premium Shop, which sells promo cards and accessories

In total, by spending $9.99 per month, you’ll get 30 booster packs, 11 pack hourglasses, eight wonder hourglasses, and 29 premium shop tickets.

If you were to spend money on Gold and then use the Gold to open 30 boosters, you’d end up spending a lot more than $30. 30 x 12 = 360 total gold needed. You could buy a pack of 500 gold for $99.99, or a 200, a 100, and a 25 for $64.97. Either way, significantly more than the $10 for Premium Pass.

So if you’re planning on spending money on Pokemon TCG Pocket, the Premium Pass gets you not only much better value for money when it comes to packs but also other forms of currency and mission rewards that you can’t get any other way.
