Mobile telecom operator Orange has joined forces with Gemalto, an International digital security firm, to launch the Gear S2 Classic 3G version in France. As the name suggests this is a 3G variant of the S2 Classic that was launched last year at IFA 2015. O2 (UK) were the first cellular courier to support the new GSMA-compliant eSIM in Europe and have now been joined by Orange.
The smartwatch is available to purchase for €349.99 without contract, but you do need to make sure your cellular courier supports the new programmable eSIM that is embedded in this version of the Gear S2. Just like the Gear S before it you can place/accept calls, send/receive messages as well as receiving notifications when not connected via Bluetooth to a paired handset.
The device is available in Black and also Rose Gold and measures 39.9mm x 43.6mm x 11.4mm (L x W x H). Under the hood we have a Dual core 1.0Ghz processor, 512MB RAM, Super-AMOLED 1.2″ 360×360 screen. Standby time is still quoted at 3 days but talktime is 2 days.
