The anticipation for the next smartwatch from Samsung’s Gear S series has been quite wild ever since the head of Samsung’s mobile business division DJ Koh officially confirmed that the device would be announced at the IFA 2017, which is just four days away. Over the past couple of weeks, we have learnt a lot about the Smartwatch thanks to a good amount of leaks. For starters, the device carries the version number SM-R600 and will be called as the Gear Sport, the smartwatch will likely run Tizen 3.0 and hence be the first one to do so. We have also got a first glance of the Gear Sport through a leaked image just recently.
While these leaks were through third party sources, today we have an official source confirming the existence of the Gear Sport SM-R600 as the landing page of the smartwatch has gone live on Samsung’s German website (SM-R600NZKADBT). Samsung has been very tight lipped about the Gear Sport as the landing page doesn’t give out any details about the smartwatch and rightly so, as IFA is a rather big event with a lot of Samsung’s competition expected to be launching new devices, Samsung would certainly like to get the attention of the press and general consumers on the day of the event itself.
Earlier, Samsung’s another upcoming Tizen based wearable in the fitness line- The Gear Fit 2 Pro got leaked or (we would rather say confirmed) in a similar fashion as the device was listed on Samsung’s Spanish website. The Gear Fit 2 Pro will also be sharing stage at IFA 2017 but we know pretty much everything about the device except its price for now.
Special thanks to Olaf Schmidt for the heads up.
