NEW Samsung Smart View App, More Compatibility, Kills Remote Control & Mirroring Features

Samsung Electronics has officially launched the NEW version of its Samsung Smart View app which is currently labelled as being a Beta release, with the full version is scheduled to be launched in early 2016. The app lets consumers share their personal content on their Smartphones with Samsung TVs and also expands on device compatibility, which goes beyond Samsung’s own Galaxy devices.
You can connect from Android OS 4.1+, iOS 7.0+ and Windows 7 / 8/ 8.1 (32/64 bit supported) and transfer your own pictures, music and video content to the Samsung Smart TV. Before you ask, there is no Tizen Smartphone app being developed that I know of, but I would love for Samsung to update me if there is 🙂 Samsung do need to develop all their Android apps for Tizen, and even chuck some exclusives our way, we don’t mind 🙂

So with this NEW version of Smart View you can send content to your TV, but this is where it gets confusing. The old version of the app (not version 2.0), which is no longer available, you could also remote control your TV and also mirror content FROM your TV to your smartphone / tablet. So you could for instance visit another room and still continue watching what was on the Living room TV. Both of these great features are NOT available in the NEW version. There is no news from Samsung if there features will make a come-back once the full version of the app is released, but I certainly hope it is.

The TV compatibility list for TVs is now from 2011 models up to the latest 2015 SUHD line up and will include support of new SUHD TVs of 2016. Once you are connected to the same WiFi hotspot as your TV, you can select which TV you want to connect to the newly designed app can to the TV.
