The black screen bug in Monster Hunter Wilds seems to be caused by an issue with upscaling on PC.
Upscaling is designed to enhance performance while maintaining high image quality, but in both the initial beta and the most recent test phase of the game, it doesn’t seem to function correctly and can cause the screen to go black after character creation.
To resolve the problem, you need to disable upscaling in the game’s graphics settings before you start playing. Here’s how:
- Launch Monster Hunter Wilds and wait for the main menu to appear.
- Navigate to the Settings menu from the main screen.
- Go to the Graphics tab within the settings.
- Scroll down to find “Upscaling (Super-resolution Imaging)”.
- Disable this option and apply the settings.
