Monster Hunter games challenge you to traverse the various terrains that lie in wait, chasing various creatures to ultimately take them down for harvesting.
Wilds changes this up a bit with its open world mechanics, a big departure from that of the previous games in the franchise.
Because of this, there is a more robust fast travel system in place that’ll save you a bunch of time if you’d rather skip some of the long stretches.
Below, we’ll take a look at how the Monster Hunter Wilds fast travel system works so you can use it to your advantage.
Monster Hunter Wilds fast travel explained
To fast travel, you must select a camp on the map. Camps are the only valid fast travel locations, meaning you won’t be able to teleport freely across the map to any chosen point.
These camps include both main Base Camps as well as the more temporary Pop-Up Camps which you can throw up at will when you’re out and about.
Unlike previous games, Monster Hunter Wilds allows you to fast travel even during combat, which is a major change from older titles where you had to disengage from a fight before teleporting to safety.
This new feature provides new strategic opportunities, allowing you to escape danger, regroup, or restock items mid-battle.
As previously stated, you have to open up the map and select a camp to travel but annoyingly, it is in a different section that you’ll need to navigate to.
To get here, you need to open your menu, move over to the Info tab, and then you can choose a camp for fast travel.
While camps are the only options for fast traveling, you can always utilize the waypoint system in conjunction with your Seikret for some easy traversal.
By this we mean you can set a waypoint and your mount can automatically take you there, allowing you to concentrate a little less by letting your Seikret do the hard work.
