Marvel Rivals’ heroes can range from simple to extremely complex, meaning you’ll have to put the hours in to learn all there is to know.
Spider-Man in particular can be tough to master with fast and frenetic web-slinging taking place in somewhat confined maps.
The Spider-Tracer mechanic is something that many are wanting to get to grips with since there are specific missions attached to it.
Here, we’ll explain what it is as well as how to trigger it so you can make inroads on any associated tasks.
What is Spider-Tracer in Marvel Rivals?
If you’re confused by the Spider-Tracer terminology in Marvel Rivals, don’t fret, you’re not alone.
This is because it is not listed as an ability of Spider-Man and instead, is hidden within the description of another one – Web-Cluster.
The Spider-Tracer acts as a temporary marker left on an enemy after you hit them with Spider-Man’s Web-Cluster secondary weapon (LT/L2 on console, Right Click on PC).
So, if you want to get those opponents marked, you’ll need to be firing off a bunch of Clusters.
Marvel Rivals Spider-Tracer: How to trigger
As previously mentioned, to activate a Spider-Tracer, use the Web-Cluster to land a hit on an enemy. When successful, a small web icon will appear over the enemy’s head, indicating they are tagged with a Spider-Tracer.
Once an enemy is tagged, you can trigger the Spider-Tracer effect by using one of Spider-Man’s specific abilities that synergize with it:
- Spider-Power (RT/R2 on console, Left Click on PC): A forward punch that deals additional damage to enemies marked with a Spider-Tracer.
- Get Over Here! (RB/R1 on console, E on PC): Shoots webbing to reel in a tagged enemy. If the enemy has a Spider-Tracer, Spider-Man gets pulled to them instead.
- Amazing Combo (X/Square on console, F on PC): Launches the enemy into the air, dealing extra damage when the Spider-Tracer is active.
The Spider-Tracer mechanic is all about timing and choosing the right follow-up ability for the situation, so depending on how your game is playing out, aim to use the right one for that moment.
Now you know what you need to do to proc Spider-Tracer, you should be able to box off any missions that require this mechanic to be used.
