Gear S2 Major Update

Samsung is in the process of preparing what is being called a major update for the Gear S2 that adds new features and user improvements. The guys over at Sammobile have got their hands on some images of the update. One major change is that you no longer need the Smartphone at hand to install recommended apps and watchfaces on your Smartwatch, as you can see fro the images below:

World Clock

The world clock app has now a flatter design which changes colour depending on the time of day, white during the day and switching to black when it goes dark. Now you also get sunrise and sunset information as well, which is quite useful if like me you like to go on Woodland walks.

Weather App

The world clock is not the only app that can now offer users additional Information. The trusted weather app, that is powered by Accuweather, has UV index information added to it. This can be very useful for people that spend a lot of time in the Sun.

Additional Features

One feature that has been long requested by users is the ability to set their own picture as the watchface background. Well, now you will be able to add up to 10 images, that will change / cycle every time the watch is woken up from sleep.

The S Voice app will have increased functionality like being able to fire up a timer with a voice command. We will now have a separate contacts app that and the ability for the user to manage notifications when there are no unread notifications. The update is hopefully going to be pushed down to your smartwatch via the Gear Manager app in the coming weeks. Keep following Tizen Experts for all the Tizen news.
