We all know that The Witcher 4 is on its way but there has been little actual information released beyond that development is in progress.
While this means that there have been no official character announcements, many seem to think that the iconic Geralt of Rivia will be returning once more to carry the mantle for the Witchers.
But is that the case? We reveal all we know on if Geralt is in The Witcher 4 right here.
Is Geralt in The Witcher 4?
Fans of straight-talking, potion-drinking, sword-swinging Geralt can rejoice because he will in fact be in The Witcher 4.
However, as confirmed by Geralt voice actor Doug Cockle, he won’t be the main protagonist of the experience.
Cockle stated in an interview with Fall Damage that “it’s not about [Geralt] this time”, all but finalizing The Witcher from Rivia’s fate, despite which ending you saw in Wild Hunt.
This essentially verifies the full arc of the grizzled White Wolf has been completed with no more core stories to tell on his escapades.
Cockle doesn’t specifically tell us how big a role Geralt has in The Witcher 4 but if we were to speculate, he could be some form of mentor to the actual main protagonist, popping up from time to time.
As for who is the main character of The Witcher 4 remains to be seen.
A lot of fans of the franchise are pointing toward Ciri both because of how The Witcher 3 plays out, coupled with the medallion reveal image that CD Projekt RED showcased to the world.
But, with CD Projekt RED venturing into custom character creation in Cyberpunk 2077, some are even thinking the devs could head down this route, having a named character but with a fully customizable appearance.
Cockle jokingly mentioned that even he is “excited to find out” seeing as though he hasn’t “seen any script yet” but “couldn’t tell you if [he] did” regardless.
Since the game is still some years away from its release date, it’s a wait and see moment right now, but we’re sure we’ll see some more information dropping sooner rather than later.
