For those following the daily shenanigans of X, you may have come across the account of Adrian Dittman, who seems to be an avid fan of the platform’s CEO, Elon Musk. For weeks, speculation has swirled about whether the profile is actually the billionaire himself, posing as a fanboy. The reason is that Dittman’s posts often sing Musk’s praises—so much so that, since 2023, users have been suspicious.
During an X Spaces event, Dittman was heard chatting with Musk, and even Musk couldn’t help but laugh at how similar their voices sounded. Everything from the accent and cadence to their technospeak was almost identical.
Is Adrian Dittman actually Elon Musk?
However, despite Dittman’s rather fawning nature, it appears he is a real person, at least according to some outlets. The Spectator claims to have identified Dittman as the son of a German software entrepreneur currently living in Fiji.
The tycoon is said to have established several businesses in the island nation, including a forestry venture, a bottled water company, and a marina and yachting facility. It’s worth pointing out, one of these companies participated in the Musk Foundation’s $100 million Xprize Carbon Removal contest in July 2021, the same month the Dittman X account was created.
The person believed to be Dittman was reportedly captured on footage by the Fijian government during a recent warehouse opening. Maia arson crimew, a Swiss developer and hacker, says she’s the one who tracked him down. According to her blog, she spotted that Dittman was wearing a ring on his left ring finger, matching the same left-ring-finger ring that appears in multiple cooking videos and streams that he had previously posted on X, which have now been deleted.
Fiji’s Forestry Ministry reported that the family recently launched a solar-powered warehouse offering maritime lifestyle services for superyachts. In a press release, they said: “Mr. Dittmann has invested more than FJD 50 million in developing commercial agroforestry operations in remote areas of Fiji.”

Biometric voice identification experts did an analysis comparing Elon Musk’s voice to Adrian Dittman’s. See below. They found that, while not impossible, it is highly unlikely (0.5%) they are two different people.

That said, it hasn’t completely convinced the various unverified accounts on X or, unsurprisingly, those on 4chan. Even a New York Times bestselling author compared their uncanny voices.
X appears to have locked the accounts of @JSweetLI, @awawawhoami and @RhinozzCode, the three journalists behind a @spectator article confirming Adrian Dittman is not Elon Musk.
Tweets linking to the article have also been blocked, apparently for violating X's doxxing policies. pic.twitter.com/3NB5DX4YJy

Meanwhile, BBC’s verification specialist, Shayan Sardarizadeh, has since reported that X locked the accounts of the three journalists behind The Spectator article, claiming that it had violated the site’s doxxing policies.
ReadWrite has reached out to X for clarification.
