Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 is one of the most anticipated strategy games in recent years, continuing the long-running franchise’s legacy of turn-based empire-building, diplomacy, and warfare.
With the rise of subscription gaming services, many fans are wondering whether Civ 7 will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
Here, we’ll break down if it has made the cut so if you’re a sub already, you can avoid shelling out the full cost of the game.
Is Civilization 7 on Game Pass? What we know so far
As of now, Civilization 7 is not on Game Pass at launch. If you are looking to dive into the game you will need to purchase it separately on PC and consoles, as it won’t be included in Microsoft’s subscription service.
That being said, there’s a strong possibility that Civilization 7 could come to Game Pass in the future. Civilization 6 was previously available on Game Pass for a period of time, which suggests that 2K Games and Firaxis may eventually bring Civ 7 to the service as well.
While there’s no official confirmation, if Civ 7 were to follow a similar pattern to other major strategy games, we’d expect it to land on Game Pass roughly a year after launch.
This would allow 2K to maximize direct sales before introducing it to a wider audience through subscription gaming.
On the flip side though, since Civ 6’s tenure on Game Pass has come to an end, there may not be the relationship there between the companies and you may be waiting infinitely to see it on the service.
Regardless of what happens though, get watching some Civ 7 gameplay to see the new tweaks on the classic formula and get prepped for when you do get it downloaded.
