Huawei Wallet is now available on the Play Store

The mobile payments industry is a huge revenue stream. Every top player in the tech industry is jumping into the lucrative sector, with the hope of carving out a share for themselves. Huawei is one of the many such companies with its own mobile payments solution. Named Huawei Wallet, the company’s payment app has been around since 2014, but only in China. However, the company has now made the app available in the Google Play Store, expanding its services beyond the Chinese border.
While Apple PaySamsung Pay and Android Pay lead the global market for mobile payments, some regional brands such as WeChat Pay and Ali Pay have also managed to carve out their own piece. Even instant messaging giant WhatsApp has begun beta testing of its mobile payment solutions. So it only makes sense that Huawei also tries its luck.

The Huawei Wallet app is available to download for free from the Play Store. The app is compatible with Android version 4.0 or higher. As of now, the app services are limited to managing mobile payments for Huawei in-app purchases and Huawei mobile services. According to a review reply, the company is planning to offer paid services to Huawei ID users in Europe, and the Wallet will be used to manage those payments.
“Hi, thanks for your support. Currently, no Huawei services need payment and will need soon. Later you can login [with] Huawei ID [and] use it when the services with payment are available,” the company replied to the query, “I can’t use it in my Huawei phone, even in Europe, why?”

Huawei is the world’s third-largest smartphone maker, with hundreds of different types of smartphones. All of these phones are definitely compatible with Huawei Wallet. Now it remains to be seen if the company has plans to expand the app’s services and make it a complete mobile payments solution.
