Huami’s Amazfit GTS Smartwatch is Announced Looking Quite Apple Watch’ish

Huami has recently announced their new smartwatch Amazfit GTS and it looks like a replica of the Apple Watch – if you ask me! Compared to the Amazfit Bip, the Amazfit GTS looks more modern. It has the same square screen shape, the metal body and the crown that sits on the right hand side of the device. So far, the device has only been confirmed to launched in China but we suspect that the smartwatch will come to other markets in the coming months.

Amazfit GTS Specifications

The Huami Amazfit GTS has 1.65-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 348 x 442. 341 pixels per inch. The 220mAh battery of the smartwatch is claimed to last around 1 week. If you need it to last longer, the smartwatch has an Ultra battery mode. However, when this mode is activated, you’ll lose access to some features but the battery should last around 2 weeks. Heart rate monitoring and notifications stay on when you have Ultra battery mode on. Huami have also said that there is a GPS – but if you leave it on constantly, the watch will only last for 25 hours.

The size of the smartwatch os 42.25 x 36.25 x 9.4mm. The Amazfit GTS weighs 24.8g without the strap. Speaking of the strap, the strap type is quick release silicone strap. The width of the stap is 20mm.

The watch is made of aluminium and is water resistant up to 50 meters in water (water resistance 5ATM). So, you can go for a little swim and not worry if your watch will be damaged. The smartwatch comes in six different colours. The colours of the watch straps are a light peach, creme, black, blood orange, grey and blue.

The features of the smartwatch include NFC, Bluetooth and more. There are 12 unnamed sports profiles but from the images, we should be able to guess what most of the profiles are. The sensors include a heart rate monitor, 6-axis acceleration sensor, 3-axis geomagnetic sensor, air pressure sensor and an ambient light sensor.

The release date for the smartwatch is unclear but we do have the price – CNY 900. CNY 900 is about $125 so it costs a lot less than the Apple Watch.

Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 Inroduced

Huami has also unveiled a new smartwatch called the Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3. It has a 1.34-inch display with a 320 x 320 resolution. The watch strap onn this model is more sporty because this watch is aimed at people who want a watch for running more.

This smartwatch comes in two models – the first is made of stainless steel and 48mm in diameter and the second has titanium bezels and uses sapphire crystals in the design as well. The sapphire and titanium is used to make the watch more durable.

Like the Amazfit GTS, the battery on this watch is said to last a week and also has Ultra battery mode where the battery should last around two weeks. It has a 5ATM water resistance rating. The smartwatch has 2GB of space so you can potentially upload music to listen on Bluetooth headphones.

Like the Amazfit GTS, he watch is only available in China for now where it costs CNY 1300. About $180.
