The Samsung Gear S3 and the Gear Sport recently got a Value Pack update to Tizen 4.0. The new update brought in a number of new features and improvements to the devices’ usability. The official changelog did mentioned a few of them, while Samsung itself laid out a few more on Samsung Newsroom.
However, they still missed out on a few things, especially for the Gear Sport. The most important of them all is the ability to take screenshots. Yes, you can now take screenshots on your Samsung Gear Sport.
Taking screenshots on Samsung Gear Sport
Taking screenshot on Samsung smartwatches is quite intuitive, almost as on smartphones. All you have to do is press and hold the Home/Power button and swipe on the screen from left to right. The screen will flash and you will hear the sound of a camera’s shutter. The screenshot is now taken and saved in the Gallery of your watch. Remember that some applications may not allow you to capture your screen.
Just like any other image, you can transfer the screenshot to your smartphone. Connect your Gear Sport to an Android smartphone with the Galaxy Wearable app. Now open Gallery on your Gear Sport, touch and hold the image/screenshot you want to transfer, and tap the options button (three vertical dots). Now select the transfer icon. The image will then show up on your phone’s Gallery. You can also transfer multiple images in one time.
Interestingly, following the Value Pack update, you can also turn off the screenshot feature on your Gear Sport. The option to toggle “whether to take screenshots by holding the power button and swiping on the screen or not” is available under the Settings menu.
