How to get more Support Gem sockets in Path of Exile 2

As you’re making your way through Path of Exile 2, you’ll be getting upgrades aplenty, whether that’s in new skills or enhancing gear.

Skill Gems are integral to this, allowing you to give your character more traits and abilities, key to survival as you mould your build.

These Skill Gems also have Supporter Gem slots that can bolster them even further but are limited.

Here, we’ll reveal how you can get more Support Gem slots in Path of Exile 2 to make skills even more potent.

How to increase Path of Exile 2 Support Gem sockets

Most Skill Gems come with two Support Gem sockets that you can utilize to add more oomph to them.

If you’ve noticed the various ‘grayed out’ circles next to your Skill Gems in Path of Exile 2, you can unlock these to add more Support Gems.

This can be done to secure a possible six Support Gem slots, maximizing Skill Gem capability.

The only way to do this right now is to acquire and use Jeweller’s Orbs which, as you might expect, are a tough find.

Lesser Jeweller’s Orbs are the only variant that are in Early Access and unlock one additional slot. Greater versions of these Orbs will likely be added when the full game launches.

These Jeweller’s Orbs can only be obtained after reaching Act 3 and can technically be dropped by any enemies, chests, or bosses.

But, in most players’ experience, you’ll have to do some serious grinding as there seems to be an incredibly low percentage of these appearing.

There is a guaranteed Lesser Jeweller’s Orb in the first zone of Act 3 in a side objective chest but this is the only 100% method of getting one we’ve found so far.

If you do manage to pick one up, simply open up the Skills menu and right click the Orb the left click the skill you’d like to add another Support Gem slot to, unlocking the additional socket.
