Hands on Video with the Gear Sport – IFA 2017

First thing you notice about the Gear Sport is how much it looks like the Gear S3 Frontier and Gear S3 Classic, although this “smaller brother” has a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED display with a 360 x 360 screen resolution, like the Gear S2. The rotating bezel is really the thing that doesn’t allow you to compare it to the S2, as it has the same fluid action as the S3.
Gear Sport Specifications are a dual-core, 1GHz processor processor, 768MB RAM, 4GB of storage and all powered by a 300mAh battery. Just like the Gear Fit2Pro, we also have 5ATM water resistance that lets you swim to a depth of 50m. For sheer ruggedness or protection, it has MIL-STD-810G rating for shock protection.

Just like its older brothers, the S3, we have 20mm Interchangeable watch straps, meaning that almost any 20mm can be swapped in. The device is also graced by Always on Display (AOD), another technology shared with the S3. For mobile payments we have NFS, but not MST, which obviously implies that only NFC capable terminals are compatible.
This is a hybrid device, a merger of the Gear S3 and the Fit2 Pro of sorts. You get the Gear S3 look, the rotating bezel, whilst also getting the swimming smarts and 5 ATM protection of the Fit2Pro. We have swim tracking, Heart Rate Monitor, auto activity detection. Those of you that are a bit more tech savvy will know this the first Tizen wearable device running Tizen 3.0, which I’m sure hasn’t been an easy task, even for Samsung. There are two colors for you to choose from, Black and Blue.
Pricing is 349.99 Euro and a European release date of October 27.
