Like every year Samsung is holding a global contest prior to the Samsung Developer Conference for app developers to bring out the next disruptive smartphone app to the market. This time Samsung have joined hands with The Weather Channel, an IBM business to come up with The Weather Channel SDC 2017 Innovation Challenge. If you have a killer app idea that can make use of the The Weather Channel API, then submit the app abstract right away and start building your app. The first 200 entries will submitted to [email protected] before August 7th will win SDC 2017 tickets worth $399.
Samsung will peer review the app idea and nominate 10 entries who will then be contacted to develop the apk within a time frame of 5 weeks and will be awarded with $3000 to aid the development. Five semifinalists will then be flown over to SDC 2017 in San Francisco on October 17th where they will be given a chance to pitch their app to The Weather Channel and Samsung judges. Three finalists will then be given the opportunity to demo their apps in their own booth to SDC attendees on the Exhibition floor following that the Grand Prize winner who will take home $10,000 along with a Business opportunity with The Weather Channel will be announced on the last day of SDC 2017- October 19th.
So get your brains tinkering and submit that disruptive app idea right away! Do keep in mind that you get bonus points if you integrate IBM Watson APIs to leverage Samsung VR and help the community while at it.
